Three of the guest performances at the Heidelberger Stückemarkt are productions from Switzerland:
21 April, 8:30 pm: Theater Basel, «Vor Sonnenaufgang» by Ewald Palmetshofer
The author rewrote Gerhart Hauptmann’s early work. Demonstrated through the microcosm of personal lives, the play announces the disappearance of human qualities. Behind his civilized facade man is a rough, desperate, unsolidary animal.
This production has also been invited to the Mülheimer Theatertage and has been nominated for the festival’s Theatre Prize.
21 April, 11 am: Theater Fallalpha Zürich, «Dickhäuter» von Tina Müller, for young audiences 7+
The new kid in the class is called Lou – a rhino. Lou, however, does not want to accept this outsider status and uses all means trying to become a child. This leads to every kind of misfortune. But it also leads to ideas about how living together with a rhino can succeed.
This production won the KinderStückePreis of the Mülheimer Theatertage 2017.
23 April, 11h am: junges theater basel & Maxim Gorki Theater, «Zucken» by Sasha Marianna Salzmann, for young audiences 14+
A play about young people who feel an increasing distance between themselves and the everyday life with all its insecurities and who are looking for radical alternatives to the social consensus.
This production is nominated for the JugendStückePreis.
In addition to these three productions, a play by the young Swiss author Katja Brunner, «Geister sind auch nur Menschen», will be presented by Schauspiel Leipzig.
