The lake glitters in the evening light, seductive scents flow from the restaurants, street artists entertain the young and old and in the temporary venues great art is on offer: from 15 August to 1 September 2019, it’s time for the Zurich Theater Spektakel.
As in former years, the festival has invited artists and companies from around the world whose creations are marked by formal independence, innovative character and artistic ambition. Among these, there are a couple of Swiss theatre artists, like Dimitri de Perrot, Stefan Kaegi and Kolypan:
The multi-disciplinary artist Dimitri de Perrot has set up his sound oasis «Unless», an installation for highly-frequented public spaces which offer an unusual artistic counterpoint, prompting the audience to pause, sit down and listen attentively.
The Zurich based company Kolypan presents an enchanting version of «The Neverending Story» for children and families. In their unique trashy and witty way, Fabienne Hadorn and Gustavo Nanez tell the story with music, props and lots of humour.
«Granma. Trombones from Havana», the latest project by Stefan Kaegi /Rimini Protokoll, portrays Cuban society from the 50s to today. Four young Cubans embark on a journey through time in which they recount the history of their families and intertwine them with contemporary socio-political questions.
