The Geneva-based Yan Duyvendak Company decodes representations of reality and demonstrates how mental and visual images, social codes and other rituals are clogging up the screens between us and reality. Its productions offer us a re-affirmation of human dignity, which is often undermined by our image-based society. They do this with humour and melancholy, seriousness and a tinge of mockery. Beyond man’s search for identity lies his desire for emancipation.
